About

HETI Higher Education, part of NSW Health, offers flexible online postgraduate mental health education within our flagship programs: Applied Mental Health Studies and Psychiatric Medicine. Learners come from varied interest areas in mental health and from diverse localities.

The Applied Mental Health studies courses are open to people from a wide range of backgrounds who have an interest in improving mental health. They can be studied at Graduate Certificate, Diploma or Masters levels. Our Graduate Certificate is available part-time or full-time courses available over 2021. The Diploma and Masters courses are studied part-time. A unique aspect of HETI's Applied Mental Health Studies courses is our focus on application of learning to practice. Students engage in active discussion with academic staff and fellow students from different professional backgrounds, and assessment tasks are designed to build practical skills that can be translated to the workplace.

Psychiatric Medicine is open to doctors with an interest in mental health and has been designed for trainee psychiatrists, general practitioners and rural and remote medical specialists. These are available at Graduate Certificate, Diploma or Masters levels.

Psychiatric Medicine students can elect to learn at our campus in North Parramatta, through live web video conferencing, or delayed online participation - or a combination of these, subject to pandemic effects.

HETI's online learning environment offers flexibility to enable students who are working, or who are in remote areas, to engage in a diverse community of learning. This flexibility is available too through the types of study options available to students. There could be enrolment in a single unit either for professional development or as a non-award student accruing credits that could later go towards an award.
