About
Box Hill Institute is a TAFE that offers higher education and vocational education and training courses. It has certificate, diploma and degree courses in a range of fields, and students can study full time or part time. Located in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs, the main campus is easily accessed by public transport.
At Box Hill Institute, you’re not just a number. Our smaller class sizes mean you’ll get the support you need to succeed in your studies. We keep our higher education courses practical with a strong focus on job skills to ensure graduates have the abilities that employers require in their particular industry. When you study with us, it’s not just about the journey. We want you to graduate with genuine job opportunities.
We focus on future proofing our students’ careers by offering higher education qualifications and pathways in exciting growth areas like cyber security, aviation and 3D manufacturing. Our teachers are all expert practitioners with relevant experience and careers in their teaching areas. They bring a wealth of knowledge about their industry, the realities of various career paths, and the areas you need to focus on to succeed.
We offer a substantial range of study areas, including business, hospitality, design, biotechnology and animal sciences, fashion, building and furniture, automotive, transport, electrical, refrigeration, hair, beauty, floristry, music, health and community services and information and communications technology.
At Box Hill Institute, you’ll gain industry connections and have work placement opportunities while you study. Many of our undergraduate courses are aligned to career paths that have been defined by the industry sectors we work with, so the courses are relevant and industry-specific.
Studying with us means that you’ll have access to some of the most state-of-the-art facilities in the country — from our high-tech music recording and production studios to our working restaurant, where chefs Guy Grossi, George Calombaris and Curtis Stone trained. We operate a Nursing Skills Centre of Excellence, the Pets on Elgar veterinary training centre, information technology labs and our $41 million Integrated Technology Hub, the first of its kind.
Other campus facilities include cafeterias, student lounges, childcare services and libraries. We offer a number of student services, including employment assistance, counselling and a disability liaison service, and support for Indigenous students. We also offer specific literacy and numeracy support to provide eligible students with help to complete their course.
