About
The Australian Guild of Music is a nonprofit organisation providing Distance Education solely in the field of music. This means all fees go into providing quality resources to deliver high quality courses that will enable students to go onto the career of their choice in the music industry.
Our aim is to provide students with skills and knowledge that they can use in any music industry related career (music teaching, live performance, composing/arranging, recording, examination, music retail, music computer software and multimedia, music publishing, and many other music careers). Students gain a wide range of knowledge in all subjects. This prepares students when choosing to develop a specialised discipline as well as develop parallel musical skills that lead to a successful career in the music industry.
The Guild also holds live lectures at the Kooyong campus, allowing students to have more involvement with lecturers and other students. Distance students are able to contact lecturers via Skype/phone and email regarding any questions in business hours.
Lecturers and tutors contact or discuss in person with students any concerns they may have regarding subjects and work with the student on ways to strengthen any weaknesses. Our class sizes are small, so you will enjoy the benefits of quality contact with your teachers and fellow students. Distance students are to maintain weekly contact via MOODLE e-learning through chats, forums and messaging. The Guild has a high percentage rate of passing students. The Australian Guild of Music Education offers career-focused training in a whole range of courses from Certificate II, III and IV through to diploma, advanced diploma, and bachelor degrees.
The Kooyong campus undertook renovations in 2012. The new facilities have increased the resources available to students and enabled an increase in delivery options. The courses we teach, and the ways we teach them, are practical and in step with current industry practice. We develop the courses for in-demand jobs, in close collaboration with industry, and we give you the qualities and qualifications employers seek.
All lecturers are musicians and educators of high standing in their field of expertise. Our facilities are extensive and advanced. Our teaching is flexible, so you can find the mode of study that suits you best. Our qualifications are accredited nationally and recognised internationally, so wherever your life takes you, your qualification will be the foundation of a vibrant career - our graduates are living, working proof of this.
