About

The Adelaide College of Divinity was formed in 1979 through the clear purpose of several Christian churches coming together and developing a campus of theological and ministry oriented learning for South Australia.

ACD has a strong national profile in teaching theology and divinity, including ministry, from certificate level to undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.

We recognise social or denominational outlooks as beneficial and welcome students from diverse backgrounds to our learning community.

Policies and Services

Admission criteria

Applicants with Higher Education study

Undergraduate Awards
If you have satisfactorily completed or part completed a higher education qualification from an Australian University or TEQSA registered Higher Education Provider, you qualify for admission into the college’s undergraduate awards.

Completed bridging or enabling course
The completion of a recognised bridging, foundations or enabling course will also qualify you for admission into the college’s undergraduate awards
 
Applicants with vocational education and training (VET) Study
If you have completed a Certificate IV level or above qualification from a registered training provider you qualify for admission into the college’s undergraduate awards.

Applicants with secondary education (within 2 years)

If you have satisfactorily completed the final year of secondary schooling in the Australian secondary system including the International Baccalaureate or other equivalent year 12 qualification, you may also need to complete and pass the ACD PEAT (Preliminary Entry Admissions Test) to qualify for admission into the college’s undergraduate awards.

Applicants with work and life experience

If you do not meet any of the above entry criteria, you may still be able to qualify for entry into the college’s undergraduate awards by completing and passing the ACD PEAT (Preliminary Entry Admissions Test) and attend an interview with an affiliated ACD member college.

Domestic Applicants with overseas qualifications

Applicants with an overseas qualification will be assessed by the Undergraduate Coordinator for admission into undergraduate awards and the Postgraduate Coordinator for admission into postgraduate awards. Overseas qualifications are expected to have their qualification
translated into English where necessary.

English Language proficiency

All applicants for the college’s courses must have an acceptable standard of proficiency in English. English language can be demonstrated by one of the following methods:
• Australian citizen
• IELTS of 6.5
• Completion of year 12 delivered and assessed in English
• Completion of a higher education qualification delivered and assessed in English

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) people

There is currently no separate admission process for ATSI people

International applicants

The ACD is not registered to accept international students

Applicants with disabilities

As outlined in the Disability standards for education 2005 (the standards) the ACD is committed to meeting its obligations and endeavours to make 'reasonable adjustments' to ensure that students with disabilities are treated on the same basis as students without disabilities.

Enrolment

Acceptance of offer

Students are notified via email of their successful or unsuccessful admission to the relevant ACD courses.  Detailed instructions for online enrolment are included in the confirmation of admission letter.

Advanced standing

Advanced standing is assessed on an individual student basis, applications are assessed by either the undergraduate or postgraduate coordinators.

Student Services processes all deferment request: college.divinity@flinders.edu.au

Financial assistance

Youth and student allowances

Austudy (for those over 25 years of age) or Youth Allowance (16-24 years, means tested) may be available.

Students normally are required to enrol in at least 75% of the normal full-time workload.

Further information on Austudy and Youth Allowance see your nearest Centrelink office. Students receiving Austudy or Youth Allowance should notify Centrelink if their enrolment falls below a full-time load in any semester. The national Centrelink telephone number for inquiries is 13 24 90. 

Loans

FEE-HELP is a Commonwealth Government loan scheme for higher education students which is available to Australian citizens and residents with permanent resident humanitarian visas. Under this scheme students enrolling in all ACD Higher Education Courses can apply for a Fee-Help loan to pay their tuition fees.
