About
Adelaide Central School of Art (ACSA) is an independent not-for-profit tertiary provider of visual arts education located in South Australia.
Offering a studio-based arts education that draws from the atelier model in which classes are taught by practising artists. ACSA believe in-depth study of drawing, painting and sculpture provides the foundation for contemporary arts practice. ACSA emphasise structured sequential learning and develop practical skills in parallel with rigorous intellectual inquiry.
With a commitment to small class sizes and one-on-one interaction with lecturers ACSA is celebrated for its welcoming community spirit and collegiate environment. ACSA offers a three year Bachelor of Visual Art and a one year Bachelor of Visual Art (Honours) program.

Admission criteria
General Entry Principles
Adelaide Central School of Art (ACSA) will admit suitably qualified school-leavers and mature-age students to the ADVA and BVA. In doing so, ACSA will:
- Consider both academic factors and non-academic factors in making decisions about whether to accept applicants into the ADVA or BVA, including portfolio interviews and applications for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL);
- Treat all applicants in a fair and equitable manner;
- Seek to ensure that each applicant accepted into the ADVA or BVA will have a good chance of completing the course successfully.
Academic Entry Requirements
- Satisfactory completion of the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) with a minimum ATAR score of 60 (or the equivalent certificate and score from an Australian secondary school) OR
- Satisfactory completion of the International Baccalaureate Diploma OR
- Attainment of a tertiary level qualification of AQF Level 5 (Diploma) or above within the last 10 years
Alternative Entry Requirements
Alternative Entry applications are assessed on the basis of the criteria listed below PLUS a portfolio interview.
- Attainment of tertiary qualification of AQF Level 5 or above more than 10 years ago
- Partial completion of a tertiary qualification of AQF Level 5 or above at a recognised higher education institution OR
- Successful completion of the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) with an ATAR score below 60 (or the equivalent certificate) OR
- Completion of a recognised vocational Certificate IV OR
- Completion of a recognised Foundation Studies Program, OR
- Previous visual art study or practice

Applicants with higher education study

Recognition of prior learning
Students can be granted credit for comparable prior study or experience. Recognition of Prior Learning is based on the relevance of the prior study to the content requirements of the unit in which credit is sought. RPL is assessed on a folio of work presented at an RPL interview.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
There is currently no separate admissions process for ATSI people.
Domestic applications with overseas qualifications
Overseas qualifications will be assessed on an individual basis, Applicants that do not meet the academic entry requirements are eligible to apply under the alternative entry stream and undertake a portfolio interview

Enrolment
Acceptance of offer
Within one week of the close of applications, successful applicants will receive a Letter of Offer and an Enrolment Pack. To accept the offer of a place in a course, the applicant is required to fill out and submit the Enrolment Form by the Enrolment Due Date.
Deferment
Requests to defer an offer of admission or initial enrolment will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. Applications for deferral must be made in writing to the Academic Administration Manager prior to the Census Date.

Scholarships
$5000 School Leaver Scholarships
The School Leaver Scholarships at Adelaide Central School of Art provide support to outstanding students to undertake the first year of full-time study of the Bachelor of Visual Art (BVA). Scholarships of up to $5000 will be awarded to successful applicants as a contribution to study-related expenses. Scholarships are open to persons who have successfully completed senior secondary school within the last three years. Read the The application and scholarship guidelines.
