Outline

The Bachelor of Creative Arts (Drama) is Flinders' dedicated professional training course for actors and directors in theatre and on screen. Taught by practising industry professionals in purpose-built spaces and studios, this course prepares industry-ready graduates with the theoretical and practical skills to create their own shows, media, and their own careers.

Through rigorous practical and intellectual training, this degree aims to develop the creative, practical, critical, and collaborative skills necessary to pursue professional careers in live performance, film, television and emerging digital media industries. Students will perform in or direct numerous and collaboratively devise original works for stage, screen, and new media. Graduates will be equipped to interpret, analyse, and evaluate creative works in their social and historical contexts.

Essential Requirements

Essential requirements

The course has limited places and entry is dependent on the following criteria: audition, written statement and CV/resume and is subject to standard Flinders minimum academic entry requirements. Applicants will be ranked on the basis of their audition and if successful, will receive an offer to the degree through SATAC. Auditions, call-backs and interviews are expected to be held in from Monday 5 through to Saturday 10 December 2022, therefore applicants will need to be available at this time for a full-week. Rural and interstate applicants will be required to submit an audition online by Friday 2 December 2022 so that they can be considered for call-backs and interviews the following week, online auditions received after this date may not receive equal consideration.

Admissions Criteria

Recent secondary

  • Qualify for the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) or equivalent recent year 12 qualification (including the International Baccalaureate Diploma), and achieve a competitive selection rank.
  • Selection by Grades: Applicants who have not achieved the Selection Rank required for automatic selection into their preferred program may be selected based on their year 12 subject grades.
  • Year 11 Grades Pathway: Applicants who have not achieved the Selection Rank required for automatic selection into their preferred program may be offered based on their year 11 subject grades from SA, VIC or NSW border schools.
  • Research Project B: If you have strong results in the SACE Research Project B subject you will be considered for entry into this course on your Year 12 results combined with your Research Project B performance. If the combined score does not result in an enhanced selection rank, you will compete in the normal way.
  • UniTEST: If you are completing an Australian Year 12 qualification this year, uniTEST is available to enhance your chances of getting into this course. We will select students based on Year 12 results combined with uniTEST performance. If you take the test and dont do so well, dont worry, we will only consider your ATAR Selection Rank.
If you have studied at higher education level for a total of more than two years, you are not eligible to use your year 12 results.

Higher Ed

  • Completed or partially completed a recognised higher education program at a recognised higher education institution, or
  • Completed a University Foundation Studies, Bridging or Enabling program
If you have studied at higher education level in the last two years, you must not have accumulated more than a total of two full-time years of higher education study in order to use your bridging program results.

Work-Life Other

  • Completed a non-recent SACE or equivalent secondary education qualification with a competitive selection rank, including the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB), or
  • Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT)
If you have studied at higher education level in the last two years, you must not have accumulated more than a total of two full-time years of higher education study in order to use your STAT results.

VET

  • Completed an award from a registered training organisation at Certificate III level or above. TAFElink is a guaranteed entry pathway if youve completed a TAFE/VET Certificate IV or higher level qualification (provided you meet the course prerequisite requirements). Guaranteed entry levels are published at TAFElink
