Outline
The Bachelor of Arts aims to enable discovery, questioning and understanding of the grand challenges and big ideas of the 21st Century in local and global contexts whilst providing the equipment for fundamental knowledge and skills in preparation for any chosen future. This degree will engage and provide students opportunities to explore the past and drive the ideas of the future. It will help you make sense of the diversity of the human experience and will give you the transformative skills required in a rapidly changing world of work.
The degree requires completion of at least one major sequence and one minor sequence; select from 30 major disciplines and from more than 35 minor disciplines. This degrees flexibility allows exploration of an in-depth a single field of study or a wide ranged and study several different fields of study.
First and Second year topics in the English, History, Sociology, and Women's and Gender Studies majors and minors will be offered online in 2024. With third year topics available from 2025.
On completion of this degree students will be able to synthesise knowledge across two or more areas of Arts-based study and adapt knowledge and skills acquired across geographical, disciplinary, social, and cultural boundaries. Students will value working both independently and collaboratively and be able to apply employability skills to career pathways across multiple sectors.
This degree prepares graduates for employment in many fields given the broad scope of specialisations. Potential occupations may include graduate policy officer editorial assistant and communications and campaigns assistant; potential employers may include government agencies, tourism agencies, businesses and banks.
The Psychology major of this degree is accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council.

Admissions Criteria
Recent secondary
- Qualify for the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) or equivalent recent year 12 qualification (including the International Baccalaureate Diploma), and achieve a competitive selection rank.
- Year 12 Grades Pathway: Applicants who have not achieved the Selection Rank required for automatic selection into their preferred course may be offered based on their year 12 subject grades.
- Research Project B: If you have strong results in the SACE Research Project B subject you will be considered for entry into this course on your Year 12 results combined with your Research Project B performance. If the combined score does not result in an enhanced selection rank, you will compete in the normal way.
- UniTEST: If you are completing an Australian Year 12 qualification this year, uniTEST is available to enhance your chances of getting into this course. We will select students based on Year 12 results combined with uniTEST performance. If you take the test and dont do so well, dont worry, we will only consider your ATAR Selection Rank.
Higher Ed
- Completed or partially completed a recognised higher education program at a recognised higher education institution, or
- Completed a University Foundation Studies, Bridging or Enabling program
Work-Life Other
- Completed a non-recent SACE or equivalent secondary education qualification with a competitive selection rank, including the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB), or
- Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT). Can be combined with a Personal Competencies Statement and/or employment experience.
VET
- Completed an award from a registered training organisation at Certificate III level or above.
